Surabhi Singh

An environmental engineer by training, Surabhi works as a Rural Water Security Manager with the Food Futures Initiative at CSEI. She is currently involved in projects related to water security planning, water budgeting and solar irrigation. She has a keen interest in hydrological modeling, citizen science, spatial hydrology, and environmental flow assessments for river basins.

She previously worked with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water, New Delhi as a Research Analyst (Water). She co-authored a working paper on Water & Climate Resilience for Indo-US Track II Dialogue. Surabhi holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from TU Delft, Netherlands. Through her M.Sc. thesis, she tried to improve the global methodology used for preliminary environmental flow (e-flow) assessments for SDG reporting as part of the Water Accounting project at UNESCO-IHE, Delft. She also interned with Stahl, Netherlands, and Solidaridad as a part of the Clean Ganga Initiative, for assessing the water pollution load in Jajmau Leather Cluster in Kanpur.

Prior to her post-graduation, she worked as a Civil Engineer in TATA Power, Mumbai for three years in Construction, Procurement & Corporate Contracts departments. She was involved in construction & commissioning of a pipe coal conveyor for transport of coal from Mundra port to Ultra Mega Power Plant at CGPL (Coastal Gujarat Power Limited), Mundra.

She also holds an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from KIIT University, Bhubaneswar.
